The Comfort Quilters of the First Presbyterian Church has been active since 1999. We meet at the Church every Thursday from 9:00 AM until 12:00 PM to sew, (talk) and create. We started out bringing our own fabric and sewing machines to work on, but over the years we have been gifted with material, yarn and even machines. We have been able to give away many of our creations: baby quilts to Hope House, Project Linus and Hill Crest; Bed Runners to the Palliative Care unit at St. Luke’s Hospital, and “Fidget Mats” for Alzheimer patients at Truman Hospital.
At least once a year we raffle off one or two quilts and sell a few others at the Women’s Event in November to earn money for needed supplies and specifically to have money to contribute for Church, Youth and Mission projects.
All are welcome to join us on Thursday to work on your own projects or join us in whatever we are working on; for the full three hours or whatever time you have to spare.
